Re: 3d masking and blockers

Bonjour,

I was hoping this tutorial would allow me to create a hold out matte in my render, but I notice that this way to do simply renders a black object and keeps the alpha white. The result I would like to get is to generate an object that would be black in the RGB as well as in the Alpha.
What would be the best way to generate this? Thanks for your help.

Black in RGB and alpha? You mean like it cuts a hole through the background?

In that case, you have to link the hold out object as Matte in the RenderLayer:

- For direct linking:
in the Linking section of the object, add your RenderLayer to the Matte Layer Set

- For the RenderGraph
connect the object to the Matte input of the RenderLayer node

Cheers,
Ben
