Summer is coming, don't forget your sunscreen

Hi guys!

I heard summer is coming, and crazy sunset pictures with it!

(bunnies watching the sunset)

Hopefully, we had a look at Wilkie and Hosek papers from Siggraph which we implemented into Guerilla!
This sky model includes sun elevation and atmosphere turbidity (which is roughly the density of water/pollution particles in the air) and sun radiance.

Less talk, more pics!

Low sun elevation, high turbidity

Middle sun elevation

High sun elevation (half intensity, otherwise our bunnies would be sun burnt!)

Our implementation separates the direct sun illumination from the sky illumination, so you'll still have the opportunity to have clean aovs.

Sun diffuse

Sky diffuse

Sun specular

Sky reflections

And last but not least, this all comes as programmable shaders! Apart from the Hosek Wilkie sky model which is a bit too intensive to be practically implemented in SL/nodal, you can easily program your environment shaders -- custom gradients, add a layer of clouds, etc.

Out soon!

Ben

Re: Summer is coming, don't forget your sunscreen

Doc and samples

Improved shader workflow in the render graph
Total rework of the light library
A single shader that does everything from plastic to glass, including skin and car paint..
A physically based hair shader
A new hair workfow
Python scripting

And tons of things I don't remember smile

The details starting from 0.15.0 :

Added : A much better hair procedural to duplicate/interpolate hairs at render time
** Major lights update
* All lights models have been unified as a single class of objects. Previous Arealight class
is now a type of light, square.
* Added Disc and Sphere light models.
* Area lights such as Square, Disc and Sphere can now have gizmos for finer falloff control
* Custom decay control. 0 for no decay, 2 for physically accurate decay. Intermediate values
  are possible, though.
* Gizmos to control the area lights size.
* Redesigned light library, simpler and more physically accurate.
* All light types are now compatible with SSS.
* Previous Arealights and lights are still working, but are deprecated and should be replaced
  with their newer counterpart.

Added : SSS albedo blur in Surface, to simulate texture blurring from light scattering
Added : Color picker now includes a temperature mode
Added : Shader optimization control in RenderPass > Debug > Parameters Optimization
        - None: no shader optimization, slower but consumes less memory
        - Default: default values are optimized, faster but consumes more memory
        - All: all values are optimized, slightly faster than Default, but consumes much more memory
By default, this value is "None" until 0.17.0, where it will be "Default"
Added : RenderPass > Render Settings > Raytracing > Light Importance setting to control the direct light sampling.
Setting this value to 1 increase weight of lights with more intensity, resulting in a better quality when
        lights are not occluded.
Setting this value to 0 gives the same weight for all lights regardless of their intensity/position, resulting
in a better quality when lights are occluded.
Added : OpenEXR data window
Added : Coarser progressive pre passes
Added : Referencable attribute : you can tell to any nodes to not be created if the scene is referenced
Added : Ashikhmin-Shirley anisotropic reflection model
Added : Support for Yeti 1.2.11
Added : Support for Yeti's DSO
Added : Option in Local Settings > Cache Manager to disable caching of geometry
Added : curve shader for hair, grass, fabrics etc..
Added : integer in the render graph script node
Added : bake maya vector dynattr and check the parent for connections
Added : Python stdout and stderr in guerilla console
Added : Support scripting in Python on Windows
Added : Support Alembic plugin on Windows
Added : Multiple tags at once in the Tag render graph node
Added : Export the opposite flag from Maya
Added : Export the subdivision attributs from Maya
Added : Support for the Maya arealights
Added : Support for 1 bit TIFF images produced by imagemagic and photoshop
Added : Duplicate Layer and Duplicate AOV buttons in Render Passes view
Added : Support of Alembic arbitrary attributes per object (to come, arbitrary primitive variables)
Added : More documentation on the render graph
Added : Degraded texture lookup for diffuse bounces
Added : New standard shading node
Added : New Surface material
Added : Bake3D passes can now bake points relative to a linked locator

You miss one important feature.
-Referencable rendergraph
-Multi rendergraph support in a single scene with an evaluation order.
