ALEMBIC

Hi everybody,

First of all, thank you for letting me test Guerilla. I'm brand new on it, so sorry If I ask noob questions.
As a user of Max and Maya I wanted to test differennt exports between these softwares and Guerilla Render.

The Exporter you provided fr maya is simply great and work fine
The standard alembic exporter of maya works well too

Things are getting complicated when it comes from max.
I exported an Alembic file from 3dsmax with exocortex plugin. When I import it in maya or softimage everything s fine
When I import it in Guerilla the teapot is rigth here but without animation.

So I tried to export my teapot as an OBJ to maya and an Xml cache file to export an alembic from maya...everything works fine.

Have you any Idea ?

PS : I'm working on windows7 64bits --- max/maya 2013 ---  Guerilla for_maya_2013_0.17.0b23_x64

Thank you all

Re: ALEMBIC

Hi Mat,

Can you upload this teapot animation somewhere on the Internets so I can have a look at it?
I've seen something similar with an Alembic export from Max, quite some time ago, and didn't had the chance to debug it...

Cheers!

Re: ALEMBIC

Hi Mathieu,

The Alembic reported 'time per cycle' information seems not to be consistently supported across different platforms (Maya Alembic cache says it's 1/fps, while 3dsMax exported in Exocortex says it's the length of the animation in seconds...)
So the Alembic support of Guerilla is now wrapped to assume that the animation is replayed consistently with the frame rate set in the project preferences.
That should solve your issue, for next version.

Ben
