Re: Alembic ?

Hi Matic,

Yes it's for that but also for a future production. Now it's working, I reinstall guerilla from scratch. Also, I think it's not working because my alembic was long to load (1-2 min) and no progress bar or info.

Now, working good.

Re: Alembic ?

Can you explain a little bit better how you make blender and guerilla link.

In this moment I'm finishing a project fur fur and blender is a good option for this work, and I would like to work with this two software.

Re: Alembic ?

For the moment, I use OBJ for static and rib for animated (you can use the 3delight exporter for base rib in blender), no other way.

Alembic will become full part of blender during 2.68-2.69 and in few time, during daily build of 2.68, alembic will start to show it's nose.

For the moment, my Alembic come from maya and houdini.

Hope can help you,

Matt

Re: Alembic ?

For obj, no... from rib yes. For Blender you need to convert your hair and after convert the result from polygon to curves and it can be long, very long (it's depend of number of hair). After just export as rib.

Re: Alembic ?

Hi, I have an octane version with export alembic from blender.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/doqvfg3emsl6b … export.abc

I can see the result on Octane, but not on Guerilla, nor Maya 2014.

A have downloaded the teapot version found on the forum, I can read it in maya, but not on guerilla when I create a reference.

Re: Alembic ?

This file uses the new Ogawa format. The alembic plug-in in the v1.0 is too old to support this file. I'll give you some update here.

Re: Alembic ?

This alembic file is stange. I don't know what to think about it. What is it exactly ? A moving box ? Or 5 boxes ?

Can you give me the link on the teapot ? Thanks !

Re: Alembic ?

It's a simple box moving up and down.
Maybe a special format by Otoy for octane.
They don't answer my post about it.

Re: Alembic ?

Hi, the alembic teapot file is a regular HDF5 alembic file. It is not working with the v1.0 but it is working with the v1.1.0b40d. The v1.1 is available to the beta testers from the beta section.
