sub object button

In the toolbar there is a button like a piece of puzzle

for what kind of action this button is here?

Is it to select just part of a mesh? i have tested that without succes

It turns the selection mode in "sub-object". If you have exported a mesh with sub-objects from Maya (like if you assigned in Maya multiple materials on a single mesh) you can use them to assign different materials in Guerilla as well.

In our opinion, it is better now to use textures to blend between materials in a single shader.

Sorry, I know this is a really old thread that I'm resurrecting, but how does one assign different materials to sub-objects?  I just noticed the sub-object button myself a few days ago, and I became very intrigued by how I could make use of it.
