Renaming SubPrimitives

Is there a way to rename SubPrimitives instead of just having a number? I can rename them in the RenderGraph, just not in the Node List. Anyone ideas?

Re: Renaming SubPrimitives

Hi Glen,

No this is not possible. SubPrimitive ids maps to Maya faceset ids, and also Alembic facesets.
You can still use SubPrimitive ids in the RenderGraph, using the Path node and specifying the SubPrimitive id.

I did not think it was possible. Ok, appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

Re: Renaming SubPrimitives

When I bring in an Alembic file from Houdini I cannot rename the SubPrimitives. When I Create Reference and import an obj, the object retains the separate names that were assigned to the geo originally. It also keeps them as Primitives instead of SubPrimitives.
I can also rename the obj Primitives, just not with the Alembic file. Thanks for the info.

Re: Renaming SubPrimitives

Hi Glen,

You cannot rename SubPrimitives, however you import/reference them. This behaviour is inherent to the way Guerilla treats face sets and can't be changed.
Also, obj files won't have SubPrimitives, as this piece of information is not contained in the obj file itself.

As far as I can test, referenced objs, alembic and other Primitive nodes can be renamed.

Cheers,
Ben
