[Question] Zbrush fibermesh to Guerilla?

Salut,

I was wondering if anybody has ideas on how to get fibermesh guides into GR? Oh and without Maya.
Obviously it reduces my possibilities to Alembic, but apparently Blender's abc export just doesn't cut it and I'm unable to find a solution. Thought I would ask before I give up. smile
Thanks!

Hi snowflake,

No, Guerilla doesn't import ZBrush fibermesh guides. I'll give it a look to see if there is something smart to do.

Re: [Question] Zbrush fibermesh to Guerilla?

Ben,
Thank you for looking into it. It does not have to be direct Zbrush of course, I just don't have anything else to convert from .obj or .ma (or fmg) to a valid input format. When I asked someone to just open the .ma and save the alembic cache from Maya, naturally it was working flawlessly.
I tried to convert a few of the zbrush exported .obj hair guide meshes to curves then save it as alembic from Blender, which seemed OK at first, but in the end it became a mess, like this:

Check the direction of the curves.

Hey Snowflake,
Check the Curves width. It's probably much too high.

Re: [Question] Zbrush fibermesh to Guerilla?

Thanks for the ideas. I tried with inverted curves(no luck), and checked the width too (no cigar either).
Hiding the guide curves themselves helped with those blocks appearing, but then the length was not the full length of the guides.
I think I will play with it a bit more over the weekend (thinking about a little script to convert them fibermeshes), but I have the feeling I will not find the solution.
I know it's not a supported work-flow, I was just hoping it may work since I love GR. smile

Do you have a sample alembic, so I can have a look?

Re: [Question] Zbrush fibermesh to Guerilla?

Sure. Here's a zip. http://www.snowflake.hu/guerilla.zip
The objs are from zbrush, one alembic is from maya, the other from blender.
