Moana Island data set
First of all, thanks to Ben, Tcherno, Djl even Paul i bother with weird houdini question.
Here is my first version of assembly and render Walt Disney Animation Studio's data set of Moana Island.
Assembly and render in Guerilla. With help of Djl we create in Houdini a point cloud to scatter the instances.
Render in 7 H ( depends of the camera ) and fit in 23GB of RAM.
I'll write a more detail later next week.

Re: Moana Island data set
Very impressive. Did you expect it to take more or less than 23GB of RAM btw? I'd expect it take more.

Re: Moana Island data set
Really nice work! If we could spend a bit more time on it, we could try ACES in the scene. ;-)
Also I am wondering if Disney mentioned the use of blockers or clouds in their scene?
It looks like their mountain has less sun on it and more Sun on the rocks in the foreground.
That would make this render a bit more 'sexy'.
I am looking forward to your article!!

It must have taken much more than 23GB of RAM. Did you expect it to take less or more? I'd anticipate it would take more, actually.
