Hiding selected faces for rendering

Hi,

I have a character rigged in maya and wanted to render only his clothes and not the geometry behind it (where the clothes are located)
So I'm trying to hide the selected faces from the alembic created in maya, but I can't find a way to do it properly.

I've read that the only way would be to select the sub primitives and hide it before rendering.

So I've tried creating different face sets in maya and ticking "write face sets", "write color sets" while exporting the alembic but it's not working.

The thing is i wanna avoid creating different texture sets. Cause our UVs include UDIM and are good to go (we don't wanna start all over again)

Has anybody already encountered this problematic?

Cheers

Re: Hiding selected faces for rendering

Hi,

When dealing with face sets, you can only change the shaders. All other attributes (such as visibility, assignement to layers, subdivision) cannot be changed.
You may circumvent this by assigning a 0 opacity to the other facesets, which will in effect render them as completely transparent.
