Render Comparison

as you might be aware there is a scene I did send a couple of years ago to Mercenaries Engineering: (Model and textures by Gleb Alexandrov)

The last entry, the Attic scene. I recently started working on the same (and other) scene(s) again and I do provide download links for a couple of renderers. Please read the full story here: … rison.html

That was basically the announcement of a new git repository, but in the meantime the scenes get too big, so I do provide download links directly, as described (for the Attic scene) here: … rison.html

As I still try to figure out what's the best way to deliver a scene for a particular renderer, please try to download the data and see if it renders for you. Most of the scenes are dealt with on Windows 10 with Blender and Houdini being the main DCCs and some standalone apps supported via .obj files and textures. For Guerilla I follow that route, so you have to download the .obj files, the textures, edit the path to both with your favourite text editor (e.g. emacs -nw attic.gproject):

# e.g. download to /tmp/cloud (on Linux)
$ tar zxfv attic_guerilla.tar.gz
$ tree attic
└── attic.gproject
$ cp attic_textures.tar.xz attic
$ cp attic_obj.tar.gz attic
$ cd attic/
$ tar zxfv attic_obj.tar.gz
$ unxz attic_textures.tar.xz
$ tar xfv attic_textures.tar
$ ls -lag
total 124
drwxr-xr-x 4 jan   4096 Mai 28 12:26 .
drwxr-xr-x 3 jan   4096 Mai 28 12:25 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 jan 107548 Mai 27 20:17 attic.gproject
drwxr-xr-x 2 jan   4096 Mai 13 20:48 obj
drwxr-xr-x 2 jan   4096 Mai 28 12:26 textures
$ emacs -nw attic.gproject
# change path to each .obj and texture file (search & replace is your friend)
$ /usr/local/guerilla/guerilla attic.gproject

Change the settings (e.g. in RenderPass) and press the render button ...

Let me know if you run into problems. There are more scenes to come, but I thought I start writing to each renderers forum first and see if people are interested and willing to test ...

Hi Wahn,

Long time no see!
Thanks for sharing, I'll have a look at your projects in the next days.

By the way, we're slowly phasing out the website, so you're welcome to visit the discord now!

Re: Render Comparison

I love listen to the songs which are produced and recorded in late. These songs have nice lyrics with very good music which is smooth and have classic rap in them. As per cv help reviews this Disco internet radio station has given hope for the people like me by airing these classical music songs of old times.
